Women in Warhammer

https://www.podbean.com/media/share/pb-ee76b-d5b627

Join Jemma (@failedcharge), Christine (@hookandpinweb), Emma Basc and I as we discuss Women in Warhammer. International Women’s Day is celebrated on the 8th of March 2020 and we want to celebrate to take this opportunity to chat with the women in the various aspects of our hobby.

With more females joining our glorious hobby I want to know what brought them into Warhammer, what keeps them going, what they’d like to see in the hobby, and their thoughts on how you might encourage your partner to get involved or include more women at your next event/tournament.

*NOTE* This discussion isn’t about blaming men or gate keeping within the hobby.

Where The Wild Things Are

The Event

The heartland of Ghur are host to a great many tribes of savage and brutish species. It is rugged, wide open places where winged raptors wheel in the clear blue skies. Sweeping savannas, craggy valleys and open plains are split by fierce white-water rivers and yawning chasms that open and grind close like impossible mouths. Gnawed, cracked and pitted bone is a common sight in the Realm of Beasts, for natural and unnatural creatures are in a great abundance, and to die there is to be devoured.

Where The Wild Things Are (Sydney GT) is a Warhammer Age of Sigmar event that takes place over Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th October 2020.

Our goal is to run events which are fun, unique, competitive & as players wish we could play in. We attempt to cater for the tournament players, skilled painters, hobbyists, & casual players with something for everyone.

You can expect a twist on the traditional 2,000 matched play event.

Each player will be required to bring 1 FREE Monstrous Beast to be used in games in addition to your 2,000 point army. More information can be found in the players pack below.

The Location

Canterbury Leagues Club is the home for Sydney GT in 2020. Canterbury Leagues Club is one of Sydney’s premier hospitality destinations with 5 star amenities including bars, entertainment lounges, gym, and restaurants/cafes like;

  • Bakehouse Café
  • The Bistro
  • Bulldogs Sports Bar

It is easy to get to the Club – situated only a short 100 metre stroll from Belmore Station and located on Bridge Road, Canterbury is not just one of the finest venues in Sydney, it’s also one of the easiest and most convenient to access. There is ample undercover parking for patrons who feel like driving otherwise Canterbury is well-serviced by taxis, buses and trains.

The Registration

Tickets are purchased using the below links. At this point in time we will not be expanding upon the initial allocation, however; a wait list will open up.

The Players Pack

The latest Players Pack can be found by clicking the image below. This event will take place after the release of the Generals Handbook 2020 so we will announce the scenario and possibly revisit the pack upon release;

EP21 Mental Health & Hobby – Down Under Sigmar

Down Under Sigmar: Episode #21

The Coach (Anthony) & The Villain (Liam) are joined by Mr Mephisto. In the topic of the week we will explore a very important topic: Mental Health. The festive season can be a challenging time for people who are suffering mental health issues. Loneliness, stress & depression are just 3 of the many things that can rear up.

Many people like my guests use the Warhammer hobby to improve the quality of their lives. We hope this show will provide a practice guide to help people on their mental health journeys, build awareness around the challenges, and remind you that you’re not alone.
